I have found it to be very helpful to advance my knowledge. My daughter has enjoyed the book as it outlines various drills to improve her skill set. The drills are clearly outlined and very detailed with great visuals. She has been playing for 5+ years (club and local teams) and she indicated that this book has helped her. She also noted that this book will continue to be beneficial in the future as it is very comprehensive. Definitely would recommend.

Just taking on a coaching position at Club level this book has been very helpful for both myself and our new players, it is also very easy to understand.

Don't know anything about field hockey, this looks like an excellent book. Bought it for my daughter who would like to get into the sport as she gets into high school.

I purchased this book for my Granddaughter (Age16) who is exceptionally good at the sport. While still in the 10th grade, she was elevated directly to her High School's Varsity. When she entered the 11th grade, she became Co-Captain, although not a Senior. She has told me that the book was a great help, and that even with her current knowledge, she has picked up pointers that have helped her improve her game.

I played field hockey about 9 years ago and recently my arm has been slightly twisted to coach middle school hockey. I had forgotten all the basics of the game and this book is a quick to the point guide. I like the pictures it provides and the drills. My goalie coach who had never even seen a game before has been able to use the book and apply it to coaching my goalies. I definitly recommend this book whether you are a coach who is looking for a break down of skills or a player looking to improve your game.

This is one of the more balanced books on the topic of deliverance. Unlike some other authors who are more prone to attribute any human problem to the influence of some unholy spirit, the author points out the importance of discerning when the problem or a display of behavior is simply an expression of human emotions and the person may be purging his thoughts and feelings and when it may be influenced by spirits.He mentions how many people have caused damage to people who were already suffering by trying to exorcise demons from them, when people were just experiencing pain and grief and needed tender loving care and comforting. He also mentions cases where people have developed multiple personality disorder from abuse and again how they are in need of healing and therapy, and not of exorcising demons.He points out that despite the clarity of all the Scriptural passages about deliverance, many theologians and preachers profess a profound skepticism as to whether we should take accounts of people being tormented by evil spirits in a literal way.They explain their position by saying that "people in Jesus' day believed in evil spirits as do primitive people today." He gives as an example one of more popular Bible commentators, William Barclay, who states that "demon possession is a delusion and that people are cured through the power of suggestion".Barclay says: "It may seem fantastic to us, but the ancient peoples believed explicitly in demons ... To this day anyone can think himself into having a pain or into the idea that he is ill; that could happen even more easily in days when there was much of what we would call superstition, and when man's knowledge was more primitive than it is now. Even if there are no such things as demons, a man could be cured only by the assumption that for him at least the demons were the realest of things."The author ads how psychiatrists and medical doctors seem to be more open to healing prayer than the clergy and mentions a meeting called by a large Western hospital which has a department for religion and health. They invited a selected group of medical doctors and clergy to a meeting to discuss the topic of healing through prayer and all but one physicians responded, 80 percent of them came, while barely 50 percent of the clergy responded, and less than 30 percent of them attended the meeting.The author quotes from Luke 9:1-2 "When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.""Most people who need deliverance, the author states, "seem to be good people, not evil people. Most of them are Christians and go to church on Sunday, but in some part of their lives they are not free. They will ell you that they seem compelled to act in ways contrary to their innermost desires."Among different levels of oppression, the author lists temptation, physical attacks or obstructions, emotional oppression, and adds demonization - the latter with possible symptoms such as bodily contortions, change in voice, change in facial expression, unpleasant smells and a sensation of cold. When the Holy Spirit is present we often experience heat.The author points out that we must ask what is causing the symptoms, a psychiatric disorder or a demon. "Rolling eyes, voice changes, twitches, or marked shifts in facial expression could indicate either ... Exorcists likely have not known enough about MPD to tell the difference ... Christians who have had years of experience in deliverance work say they knew all along that certain entities seemed like demons initially but didn't respond to exorcism like demons do."He says that the most accurate way of diagnosing the presence of an evil spirit is through the gift of discerning spirits. The gift enables us to distinguish whether a person is influenced by the Holy Spirit, natural human, psychological or created causes, or an evil spirit. Some may have a strong gift of prophecy, healing, or discerning of spirits but contaminate it, if they are immature in its use, with elements of their own prejudice, self-interest or religious background. Zealous Christians who have gotten into deliverance have usually received insufficient instruction or oversight to direct a balanced ministry. Some ministers of deliverance know little about psychology and are unable to tell whether a person needs inner healing or deliverance or both.For those who want to practice deliverance, the author suggest "If you have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, study about it, then pray to receive it." The empowering of the Holy Spirit enables us to minister deliverance more effectively. And let every unclean spirit be repulsed by Him who is coming to judge both the living and the dead and the world by fire. Amen.Almighty, everlasting God, we humbly appeal to your mercy and goodness to graciously bless this creature, salt, which you have given for mankind's use. May all who use it find it a remedy for body and mind. And may everything that it touches or sprinkles be freed from uncleanness and any influence of the evil spirit, through Christ our Lord. Amen."He recommends praying and fasting for deliverance, and offers elaborate instructions for preparing a deliverance team and what to do in different cases.

Francis MacNutt approaches deliverance in a reasonable and spiritually-mature manner, as one who has a significant history and practice of deliverance and healing ministry. MacNutt is thoroughly scriptural and Christ-centered in his approach to deliverance. He does not present himself as a super-minister who stands above others in ministry, but he sees himself as part of the larger Christian Body and as one who needs others.MacNutt emphasizes the reality of what we see in Scripture, especially in the gospels and in Jesus' own ministry, in relation to deliverance of demons. He shows how the deliverance ministry is as essential today as it was then and the church needs to be the experts in it. There is plenty of evidence in this book that demonic oppression is active in our cultures and world today.The main contribution of this book is a textbook approach to guiding people in the deliverance ministry. MacNutt gives readers good instruction to inform the ministry. I think he could emphasize more than he does how important a person's own devotional life is when even thinking about deliverance ministry, and this includes the necessity of being plugged into a Biblical Christian community for support and protection.MacNutt also does very well to highlight the relation of demonic oppression/possession to emotional and mental wounds that require inner healing. He advises ministers to be especially careful to not treat mental/physical/emotional wounds as demonic oppression. He repeatedly emphasizes the need for discernment and humility in this work.There is always the danger of people getting obsessed with demons and giving them too much respect and power or in assigning every ailment or sinful habit to demonic influence. MacNutt advises readers to keep a careful balance and to be led by the Spirit in discerning demonic presence.This would be a recommendation for training prayer ministers and as an essential book in one's library. Interesting enough, I was surprised at some of the things that took place. He describes how in India a possessed woman took on the persona of an Indian deity. Apparently some of these deities are really demonic. (Many would disagree with that.)The deliverance ministry is not exactly exorcism, and he describes how groups pray for someone who is influenced by the demonic. Making a distinction between oppression and possession, McNutt says that many oppressions and other problems need to be prayed over, and may not need an exorcism if caught in time.

Pretty good guide all in all. Compact sized so it's easy to carry and fit in a day pack and well laid out so it's easy to look up birds. It groups the birds by color so you don't have to go through the entire book to find the bird you're looking for. It gives plenty of info on each bird and at over 300 pages it's very complete. Besides Delaware and Maryland it includes the Chesapeake Bay and DC areas.

Update: 4-25-2018 Our copy is still going strong, pages are intact. The identical boy triplets are now 9 years old and big sister is 12. The book has served them all. Also used by most people who visit. Everyone loves how easy it is to use. It is not a book for extensive research, but it does identify birds so that you can look them up. Too many guides are written for people who are really into birds and are impossible for those of us who have a casual interest in birds to use.******************************************************************************************************************Most guides have so many entries that it is impossible for a beginner to use. My 6 year old grandaughter has been easily able to identify birds coming to my bird feeder with this book.As many have stated, it is organized simply by color with separate entries for male and female when needed.A few improvements would have made it a 5 star.-One of my neighbors was unable to find a bird that nests in his yard here in Central Maryland. It simply is not there. Missing a few birds?- So many entries for brown birds. Needs to be a way to break the category down more. Perhaps all brown, brown and white, etc.- Not sure why the hawks are listed so far apart in the book. red shouldered on p.179, red-tailed on 191.- Would be nice to have more views of the birds from different angles.

Great book for birdwatchers. It was a must have for our trip. We are all interested in bird watching and discovering some that we have not seen before is a wonderful feeling. This book was informative and very helpful. It is an excellent field guide for bird watching in Maryland and Delaware. I would make this purchase again if I needed another one.

This is absolutely the best bird book for people who can't remember scientific names or can't get too up close to the birds. I just wanted to find out what was eating my birdseed and hopefully attract more.It is laid out by first locating the bird by color,(pages are tabbed by color) then as the size of the bird increases. If the female is a different color than the male, she will get her own page with an inset and page number of the male,(and the males page will have an inset of the female.) There is a small map showing winter/summer habitats and helpful tips from the author on each description page. I bought the Georgia book for myself then got the Maryland one for my mom. The book is a little larger than a paperback, which makes it easy to haul around but in no way detracts from the full page pictures.

We love the way this book is organized --- when you see a bird, you look in the section that represents the primary color on the bird -- the photos have been great and we've been able to identify every bird that has come to our feeder this year. I am new to bird watching, and basically purchased this book to help me identify the birds that are visiting my bird feeder. It is a great size, smaller than the average book you buy, and I love how it is organized. All you have to do is flip to the section of the appropriate color that is most dominant in the bird! I also like how the femals that are different, are listed seperately so that you can look them up easily as well. Birds that have different plumage during different seasons are also listed seperately so that it is always easy to look up a bird by its color. I have yet to know if it includes most birds, but so far...I haven't yet come across one I couldn't find in the book. I would recommend this book, at least for beginners! (more advanced birdwatchers might think differently)...

I love this book primarily because of the way it is organized, by the colors of the birds, and the great photos. We keep this by the window to identify birds at our feeder. I love that when a male and female have very different colorings, they are in the book twice with each gender indexed by its colors. This is the book you want by your window to help you identify birds with your kids.

They assume that readers will already be familiar with the entire trilogy. Each chapter explores a theme found in Tolkien's series, illustrates it from the story and then shows how this theme can also be found in the Bible. Most of the themes illustrated here that our small individual stories are part of a larger story that gives them more meaning, that we are called to undertake challenging missions beyond our comfort zones or that evil powers are actively scheming in the world will already have been obvious to Christian readers with the intelligence needed to read through the entire trilogy. Readers already familiar with the trilogy will find a few gems of insight, especially the epilogue on Tolkien's literary theory. But it seems much more likely that this book will appeal to those who, having seen the movie, are deciding whether to read the books for the first time. I am an avid Middle-earth fan and a devout Christian. I happened to purchase this book on an impulse because I as curious what angle they would take in it (considering that Tolkien clearly stated he had no "allegory" in mind). I was happy to see that first off the authors made it clear that they are not saying that Tolkien was writing an allegory of Christianinty. In stead, they make the claim that Tolkien's strong Christian beliefs are clearly seen throughout the books (LOTR, the Silmarillion, etc.). With that point, I must strongly agree. As a Christian, I can see countless areas where his beliefs find their way into his books. Honestly, how could you expect anything else? A man's beliefs are going to come out in what he does in life whether he intends them to or not. This book does a good job of pointing out examples of some of those patterns and beliefs for those who may not notice them as easily.On the negative side, the book was a bit less than what I had hoped for. I was expecting a book set up with multiple deep essays on the various subjects, but it not quite as in-depth as I would have liked. It is a good surface analysis, but it fails to go into the depths that the more intense fan would prefer.This is an excellent informative book for parents who are concerened about exposing their children to something that they might be worried about. It is in this regard that the book could do its greatest good because many Christians could end up tossing something out in the name of "evil" that truly can be seen as a testimony of God's glory. Honestly, it a challenge for me to withhold the tears when I am reading Tolkien's work. When I read his words, I see the infinite beauty of God's creation coming forth through the hands of a man who truly realized who his God was.

I would give this wonderful book 4 1/2 stars. It's the second time now that I've read it and it is chock-full of wisdom from the Red Book that can be applied to our own lives. Especially memorable is what is written of addiction for we all bear Rings of one kind or another. It is beautifully written in many passages. I will quote just one: "Great sacrifice was needed to defeat evil. Frodo had been chosen to carry a load none other could bear and fulfill a task none other could endure. Though Frodo was only one of many who had given up something for the greater good, none had suffered such direct confrontation with darkness or remained as faithful when tormented by the terrifying, possessing power of wickedness. Such was his role, to lose so that others might gain. And so, by completing his scene in the story, Frodo Baggins also performed its most heroic part." Each chapter is broken up into two sections: summarizing a particular part from the tale and then how to apply it to our life. The part that follows what I've quoted above speaks of the "ultimate hero of history, Jesus Christ": "He left the respect and comfort of [H]is rightful place for one reason: to redeem you and me from evil. He faced death to give life, endured sorrow to restore joy, confronted hate to show love. He humbled [H]imself to the point of death on a cross to pay for our redemption. He was chosen for a burden none other could bear and a task none other could endure." This brought to me more parallels between Frodo's Passion and that of Jesus. Frodo is not God, but he is a suffering servant and the suffering of hobbit and God-Man are very similar in parts. Highly recommmended with only a couple quibbles.

I recommend this book for those would be hobbits who understand that the world is bigger than our little hole. This book navigates all of the The Lord of the Rings books and brings out treasures of the Christian faith as evidenced in Tolkien’s work to ponder and relate to our own journey through this life. A must read for Lord of the Rings fans!

Following the general story line of the trilogy, this book by Kurt Bruner reveals the many facets of plot, theme, and characterization of Tolkien's work that subtly point the reader to Biblical archetypes and to the story of the Fall and Redemption of Man as found in the Bible.Bruner's book is a delightful way to uncover many nuggets of God's truth, threaded throughout The Lord of the Rings, that a reader might miss on a cursory reading of the trilogy.

Really good! This book offers a fairly chronological look at the Lord of the Rings, whilst taking major tenants of Christianity and showcasing their role in LOTR one by one. Filled with references to scripture, reasonably uncovered Christian themes, and plenty of fabulous Tolkien quotes.

I was very disappointed with this tiny book. I had expected a literary study of Christian themes, the relation between myth and truth, Christ imagery, how prayer works in the books, etc. Instead, what I found was a series of brief chapters in which the authors spend a couple pages rehashing some aspect of the story, then a couple more offering a devotional application to our own lives. This might be suitable for family worship if everyone in the family has seen the movie, but it's of no use to me. To others interested in this Christian themes, I recommend "Tolkien: Author of the Century" and another little book on "Virtues" in "Lord of the Rings," the exact title of which escapes me.

Have been buying Dan DiPaolo for several years and wanted to try something new. This calendar is fresh change. Like the graphics, paper is much thinner but still has all important dates and past/present month on each new page which I like for writing reminders. Will order 2019 from Cory Steffen.

This was such a disappointment. We wanted something different from the Lang calendars we purchase year in and year out. However, while the pictures in this calendar are fine, the quality was such a disappointment. The size is just small enough that it looks lost on our wall. (The dimensions are listed in the description, but I didn't realize what a difference fewer than 2 inches makes when hanging!) The paper is thin and flimsy, and the quality reeks of Dollar Store--for about 10 times the price. This was such a disappointment.

This was a Christmas gift for my Sister (a true coffee NUT !), and she LOVED it !

Love coffee calendars in my kitchen and I like the sayings on this one.

I purchase a coffee calendar every year! I love the pictures and everything is bright and colorful! Really love these calendars.

This is Dr. Angelica Conley and Dr. Wolfe McKeag's story. Angelica aka Angel tries to bring a glimmer of hope to a young girl battling Cancer. She makes a pact with Jenna that if she eats something she would go to the Rockefeller Center tree lighting, record her mission, and bring Jenna back some peppermint hot cocoa and a snickerdoodle. Jenna calls her Dr. Angel which is a name rightly given. Wolfe finds out about the pact and agrees to help her. These two are seriously fighting their attraction to each other. Angel because of her past and Wolfe because of things that happened with his parents and his brother. This a a good, quick, medical romance.

Ms. Berlin gets the reader off to a wonderful start in her two book series Scottish Docs in New York. Wolf McKeog is so against Christmas and wants nothing to do with it. His past has made him hard and without the usual holiday feelings. However being a pediatric surgeon puts him in a position of children and with Christmas he has to bend a little for his patients. Dr. Angel Conley is the exact opposite of Wolf she wants to make the season wonderful for her patients so with help she enlists him into spreading joy. Enjoy the journey as Angel takes Wolf out of his comfort zone to make the holiday special for her patients. A stand alone but you will be anxious to read the second book in the series, knowing you will probably see more of Wolf and Angel.

If you are planning a trip to Nova Scotia, start here. This truly excellent atlas has topo features, cities and towns, roads, and what are probably no more than paths or tracks. It contains about 90 individual maps covering all of Nova Scotia, more than you ever wanted to know. Never having visited the Maritimes, I cannot attest to its accuracy, but it gives every appearance of being a superbly useful set of maps, professionally and carefully prepared.

I bought this book in Toronto, Ontario in preparation for my move to Wolfville, Nova Scotia. I am an avid naturalist and outdoor enthusiast (hiking, biking, Nordic skiing, canoeing), as well as an explorer of old roads and villages, so I required a detailed set of maps that would let me discover my new home province.This highly detailed and up-to-date (2001) road atlas covers Nova Scotia at 1:150 000 (1 cm=1.5 km or 1 inch = 2.4 miles) in 90 highly detailed and colourful, yet very clear, map pages. Each map is large (25.5 cm x 18.5 cm or 10 in x 7.25 in) and overlaps a generous but not excessive 1.5 km (1 mi) with the adjacent map pages. The index has over 14 000 geographical names (towns, villages, rivers, lakes, islands, etc.). The book is 33.5 cm x 25.5 cm (13 in x 10 in) in total size, and weighs 780 g (1 lb, 11 oz). It is prepared by the Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, and the Nova Scotia Geomatics Centre.This volume has all of the features that one would expect from a conventional road atlas, including well-labelled highways, railways, ferry routes, cities, towns, villages, historic sites, parks, lakes, rivers, designated beaches, hospitals and airports. What sets it apart, however, is that it displays many features more typical of topographic maps in the convenience of one volume. Natural features such as contour lines, point elevations, wetlands and even the smallest ponds, streams and islands are clearly displayed. Human features, including sections of crown (public) land, airstrips, heliports, firetowers, power lines, pipelines, quarries, aeronautical obstacles and geodetic monuments are also well-marked.What is most impressive, however, is that every road, paved and unpaved, longer than 200 m (600 ft or 1/8 mi) in the province is indicated in a colour and thickness that corresponds to the type of road and surface. These roads include limited access highways (Nova Scotia 100 Highway series), arterial highways (NS Highways 1 to 28), collector highways (NS 200 and 300 Highway series), local highways, local roads, loose surface roads, cart tracks, public hiking trails and rail trails.Needless to say, this detail is an absolute dream for those that like to explore the province off the beaten track, and for those that wish to hike, mountain bike or Nordic ski on old logging roads. The contours and natural features labelled on the pages will also help in determining the topography of a trip.My only wish is that some of the larger non-highway side roads (which the province unfortunately does not number) were labelled on the maps. However, my guess is that the author may have felt that these labels would clutter the pages to the point where they would decrease the quality of the atlas. After travelling in a certain region, I have taken to labelling the roads on the corresponding atlas page with an index number, and then, in the generous margins, cross-referencing the number with the name of the road so that I know where it is in the future.This atlas is fantastic value when one considers the price of individual governmental topographic maps. I am of the opinion that it will satisfy all but the most hardcore back-country adventurer in Nova Scotia (I would still suggest the governmental 1:50 000 map series for individuals planning longer canoe or backpacking trips).Combine the information in this book with excellent and up-to-date books on Hiking Trails of Nova Scotia by Michael Haynes (completely different trails are featured in the 7th AND 8th editions), and Mountain bike! Atlantic Canada by Sarah L. Hale and Jodi E. Bishop, and you are set to explore this beautiful part of the world!Have fun and drive safely!
